Story structure is essential to creative nonfiction. In this class, we'll dive into the craft of writing beginnings, middles, and ends that keep your reader invested. We'll examine the construction of scenes and stories, the components of a chapter, and narrative throughlines in book-length work. We'll look at the words of Mitchell Jackson, Alexander Chee, Patti Smith, and more and discuss strategies for making the structural process easier. This class includes time for generative writing, editing, and workshopping. You'll leave with an improved ability to structure your creative nonfiction and a better sense of how to weave interiority, themes, and flashbacks into characters and front-moving narratives. Bring a scene to the workshop, no longer than one page.REGISTRATION DATES:
